
There is a saying in the mortgage industry. They say you don't find the mortgage business, it finds you. Well that was never more true than with me. I began originating mortgage loans when I was 21 years old, fresh out of school, and like most at that age, I didn't quite know what I wanted to do in my career. Twenty years later, I am doing exactly what I want to do.
For the first 10 years of my career, I focused solely on originating mortgages, helping thousands of families buy homes or save money by refinancing. I was also lucky enough to work with some wonderful people that helped me build a company from less than ten employees to over fifty. I spent the last 10 years of my career managing a large mortgage operation, responsible for funding over a half billion in mortgage loans annually.
As the company grew larger, I missed the connection with my customers, helping them meet their financial goals and helping Realtors transact fast closings. I missed being on the ground where I could help my customers directly.
I started Local Mortgage, alongside my brother Derek Chapman and my mother, Peggy Chapman, to bring something different to the mortgage market.
